The Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors is appointed by the United States Trustee to ensure that creditor interests are properly safeguarded in a chapter 11 bankruptcy case.

The basic function of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors is to act as both watchdog and advisor of the Debtors.
